Today marks an important transition for the Clobotics Wind Services EMEA business. Mads Obling Rasmussen steps down after 5 years as CEO and Kim Lorentzen takes over.

Clobotics today announced a leadership change for its Wind EMEA organisation, with Mads Obling Rasmussen stepping down as CEO after five years leading the business through significant expansion, innovation, and commercial milestones. Kim Lorentzen has been appointed the new CEO of Clobotics Wind EMEA, effective immediately.

Group CEO of Clobotics, George Yan, expressed his appreciation for Mads’ tenure and impact:

“I want to express my deep appreciation to Mads for his remarkable leadership and contribution over the past years. Taking AtSite from a startup to a key technology innovator, guiding its integration into Clobotics, building a strong EMEA organization, and helping pioneer our industry-defining ‘Sparrow’ robotic repair service — these are achievements that will stay in the company’s DNA for years to come.”

Rasmussen first entered the industry in 2013 as founder of AtSite, a company specialising in wind turbine maintenance technologies. After AtSite was acquired by Clobotics in 2020, he continued as CEO of Clobotics EMEA, where he played a central role in establishing the company as a recognised European partner in autonomous inspections, blade repair, and robotic innovation.

Under his leadership, Clobotics EMEA scaled from a regional player to a leading provider of inspection and repair technology across Europe. In addition, his team developed and launched Sparrow, the world’s first drone-delivered robotic blade repair solution, completing the first-ever offshore robotic blade repair, which he describes as a milestone that felt like a “moon landing” in the wind sector.

Reflecting on his departure, Mads shared:

“After 12 years of building technology for wind turbine blade maintenance, it feels like a natural time to close this chapter. I’ve learned a lot about wind – but even more about people and leadership. I leave incredibly proud of what we have built together, especially the groundbreaking achievements with Sparrow. I remain a strong supporter of Clobotics as a shareholder and fan.”

With Mads’ departure, Kim Lorentzen steps into the CEO role for Wind EMEA. Kim has been an integral part of the organisation and brings extensive experience in customer management, technical execution, and operational leadership across the wind industry.

Kim extended his gratitude to both Mads and Yan:

A big thank you to Mads Obling Rasmussen for an incredible journey over the past four years. I’ve learned so much from working together, and I promise to do my utmost to deliver on the vision you invited me to be part of back then. Thank you George Yan for your trust and for allowing me to play an even bigger role in shaping the future of Clobotics Wind Services. I’m proud, humbled, and excited about what lies ahead – driving innovation with robotics and technology that will transform our industry. Here’s to the next chapter!

Yan added:

“Kim has earned the trust of our teams and customers, and he brings the experience and drive needed to write the next chapter – scaling operations, deepening partnerships, and delivering the next wave of innovation in Europe.”

Clobotics thanks Mads for his exceptional contributions and leadership over the years, and welcomes Kim as he takes the helm of the Wind EMEA business.
