Clobotics Wind Services has achieved two new offshore performance records with its Sparrow leading-edge (LE) repair robot during a recent commercial campaign. The results mark a significant step forward in robotic wind turbine blade maintenance.

Working across 29 blades in just six days, the Sparrow team achieved:

  • Fastest offshore robotic LE blade repair: 38 minutes on a single blade
  • Highest offshore daily output: 6 blades repaired in one working day

These achievements build on the company’s earlier milestones from Sparrow’s first offshore deployment in 2025, when Clobotics completed:

  • The world’s first offshore blade LE repair performed by a robot
  • The fastest offshore LE repair at the time, completed in 1 hour and 40 minutes from first pre-flight check to final robot recovery

The latest campaign demonstrates how robotic blade repair is moving beyond proof-of-concept and into scalable commercial operations. By reducing LE repair timelines from days to hours, Sparrow enables operators to complete maintenance campaigns faster, with more predictable quality and significantly reduced operational disruption.

Sparrow is a remotely operated robotic repair system flown to the blade by a heavy-lift drone. Once attached, the robot performs surface preparation and leading-edge protection application directly on the blade, without technicians working at height.

Kim Lorentzen, CEO of Clobotics Wind Services EMEA, recently discussed the role of robotics and digital technologies in the future of wind turbine operations and maintenance during an industry panel hosted by Enterprise Singapore.

Clobotics APAC will next participate in the RECHARGE Wind Power Summit, 19-20 May 2026.
